A year and a half after it was first announced, Warcraft Rumble is now available to download for free on Android and iOS smartphones. During Blizzcon, taking place this weekend in Anaheim, California, publisher Blizzard finally opened the doors to its mobile game.

Warcraft Rumble is a free Blizzard game largely inspired by Clash Royale from Supercell studio. Players compete on a small field where they can position their units while their gold resources are increased. Of course, different types of devices are offered. The goal is then to destroy the opponent’s tower with automatically moving units. The game principle is therefore based more on the strategic aspect and leadership, similar to a tower defense – Blizzard calls its game a “Tower Offensive” – than on the control of the units themselves. This creates fairly quick games that, depending on the level of difficulty, last less than five to take ten minutes.

The game can be played online against the machine or against other players. In addition, five factions are offered, each with their special units and their specific playstyle: the Alliance, the Horde, the Beasts, Blackrock or the Undead.

A new mobile game for Microsoft

The arrival of Warcraft Rumble on smartphones comes at a time when Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard-King is now complete. It must be said that in addition to Activision’s major licenses, such as Call of Duty or Overwatch, Microsoft has bet on this acquisition to gain a foothold in mobile gaming. In addition to Candy Crush Saga, Activision has become a mobile gaming giant with several licenses from Blizzard. These include Hearthstone, another game adapted from the Warcraft franchise, but also Diablo Immortal and now Warcraft Rumble.

Waracraft Rumble has been available to download for free on Android and iOS since Friday, November 3rd. However, the game requires micropayments to benefit from more rewards or to obtain new units more easily.
