Lenovo recalls USB-C power banks due to heat problems – notebookcheck.biz

Lenovo has recalled USB-C power banks with part number 40ALLG2WWW because they can pose a fire hazard. The screws inside the power bank can become loose and cause a short circuit, which can cause the lithium-ion battery to heat up and create a fire hazard.

According to Lenovo’s latest tweet and a post on its official website, the company will be replacing the power adapter with a new model. Lenovo will replace power banks with part number 40ALLG2WWW manufactured between January 2022 and June 2022. In the same message, Lenovo clarified that power banks produced before January 2022 and after June 2022 were not affected. Affected customers must complete a form on Lenovo’s website to request a replacement.

According to the USCPSC (United States Consumer Product Safety Commission) website, the battery can cause fire or explosion if crushed or damaged. The article therefore advises consumers not to throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash or recycling boxes. Additionally, the post states that around 2,850 units of this device were sold in the country and around 510 in Canada.
