iPhone 15 – How much do Apple smartphones really cost? -IDBOOX

The cost of the iPhone 15s has risen sharply. How much does it cost to make an iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max?

The last iPhone 15 from Apple cost more to produce than that iPhone 14. The Cupertino company has to face the increase in component prices. As surprising as it may seem, Apple has chosen not to pass this increase on to consumers.

iPhone 15 – Exact component prices

Nikkei Asia and the Japanese company Fomalhaut Solutions have examined how much the three iPhone 15s actually cost. The cost of the iPhone 15 components is $423, which is $16 more than the iPhone 14.

The iPhone 15 Plus sees a 10% increase, or $523. The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s components increase by 12%, bringing the total price to $558. These amounts are quite high compared to other smartphones, even if the content is not identical.

Nikkei Asia also took a look at the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro. All of their components cost $469, $413, and $485 respectively.

What are the most expensive components in an iPhone 15?

What costs the most for an iPhone 15? The A17 Pro processor makes the bill skyrocket. The chip alone that powers the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $1,320. This represents a 27% increase over the A16 processor.

Among the other elements that weigh on Apple’s bill, we also have to mention the X5 telephoto lens on the Pro and Pro Max. It costs 30% or 280% more. The titanium frame features a 43% increase at a price of $50.

The screen of the iPhone 15 Pro Max provided by Samsung also sees a small increase of 10%. One of the few components that has not experienced inflation is RAM. It doesn’t really increase, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 256GB only costs 5% more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 128GB.

In addition to the quality of the smartphones, it is a good achievement from Apple not to have increased the price. She definitely managed to save another production line or marketing budget.
