A mention from the mayor for Yannick Benoît – L’Hebdo du Saint-Maurice

DISTINCTION. Researcher Yannick Benoit, a native of the Saint-Georges-de-Champlain sector, was awarded the “Mayor’s Mention” at the last meeting of the Shawinigan Municipal Council on October 3rd.

Remember that these citations are given to citizens whose actions contribute to the impact of the City of Shawinigan.

Here is the presentation text for this award: “It is our pleasure that the Council is awarding Mr. Yannick Benoît a Mayoral Mention in the Nomination and Recognition category, as he is one of the most promising Canadian researchers of his generation.”

Mr. Benoît is originally from Saint-Georges-de-Champlain and has been Assistant Professor and Research Director of Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa since 2017. His work consists of developing innovative treatments to treat colon cancers.

He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including a Young Scientist Fellowship in 2015. More recently, Mr. Benoît received a large grant of $895,000 over five years from the federal government to support his research work.
